Is it a good idea to take vitamins for healthy weight?

Health

We tend to think that the only concern of people regarding their weight has to do with losing it, however, for many other people the concern about increasing their body volume is constant and despite trying, they do not succeed.

In this article, we will see “good practice” to do it wisely and discuss whether or not it is really necessary to take vitamins to gain weight.

Is it easy to gain weight?

No, in fact, although it may seem the opposite, it is usually easier to lose weight than to gain weight. This will depend a lot on your constitution and your biotype: ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph:

  • If you have the ectomorph type, you will surely perceive that no matter how much you eat and eat, you cannot gain weight, this is partly due to the fact that you have a very fast metabolism.
  • On the other hand, it is possible that if you are gaining weight, but it is based on products and foods that are not recommended.

These are the two most frequent scenarios that I find myself in consultation. Faced with the frustration of not being able to gain weight, many people become interested in nutritional supplements, specifically, vitamins to gain a healthy weight.

Vitamins for a healthy weight: quick and other magic remedies

Surfing the net you will find many websites that try to sell you products with statements similar to this: “Buy these vitamins for healthy weight quickly.”

Vitamin complexes should not be used to gain weight, but to cover nutritional deficiencies. In fact, they are quite low in calories, since both vitamins and minerals are micronutrients. Our greatest sources of energy are carbohydrates and fats (macronutrients).

Another option that you can find surfing the net is multivitamin shakes. There are many brands that sell products of this type.

These do serve to gain weight, basically because they are made from sugar. Although they are promoted as “healthy”, the amount of nutrients they carry compared to sugar is negligible.

In fact, this is NOT the way to gain weight. Eating sugary foods, saturated fats, etc., it is possible to gain weight, but what we gain, on the one hand, we will be losing on the other by spoiling our health.

If you want to learn to gain weight in a healthy way, to organize your diet, and to know how to supplement yourself (if necessary) in a coherent way, I recommend you go to this low-cost course that I have recorded, where I include a typical diet, recipes, etc.

So there are no pills for a healthy weight?

We have already seen one of the main reasons why you should not take “vitamins for healthy weight.” However, the main reason is another: you may be putting your health at risk.

Following a more or less normal diet, we should not because we have any kind of nutritional deficit or deficiency. If we also add a product of this type, we will be causing a surplus that can even be toxic to our body.

Does this mean that we should never take vitamins?

No. First, if we are deficient in a particular micronutrient, we should supplement for that micronutrient, not for all the others.

On the other hand, there are numerous situations where it is necessary or a good decision to supplement with vitamins: malnutrition, digestive absorption problems, eating disorders, etc., high frequency and intensity athletes …

If you look at it, all the situations described are situations where there may be a deficit. So it does make sense to supplement.

Is there a supplement that you do recommend?

  • The general goal in weight gain diets is to gain the clearest possible way, that is, gaining muscle rather than accumulating fat.
  • It is inevitable that to some extent we also gain some fat, but it is not the idea. Muscle protects our joints and bones while pivoting towards the accumulation of fat can lead to different diseases, including cardiovascular or type II diabetes.
  • To increase our muscle mass there is no other option than to do physical strength exercise. In addition, it is often necessary to increase protein consumption.
  •  Increasing protein consumption does not mean consuming protein to exhaustion, it has to be done in a very specific way.
  • This increase in protein can be done naturally by eating, or with a protein supplement, generally, the classic protein shakes.
  • They are not better neither one nor the other, it is usually a good idea to drink shakes because in diets to gain weight you have to eat a lot and you can end up a bit disgusted with so much intake.
