Many girls dedicate much of their training time to aerobic exercise thinking that the more they can do, the better! The more fat you will burn and the better results you will get! Here a full-blown false myth. It is totally wrong to think that the more cardiovascular exercise a person performs, the more fat they will burn and the more weight they will lose, if that is the goal. First of all, clarify that there are certain athletes who only dedicate themselves to racing competitions, cycling, etc., in which case a training focused exclusively on this type of physical activity is normal.

However, for those people whose goal is fat loss, it is not enough to “kill” to do the so-called “cardio”. What’s more, a training aimed at this goal should not focus on this type of activity, but must be combined with strengthening and muscle growth. For this, there are toning classes in the gym and resistance among a great variety, but you can also make your own weight training routine.

Combine aerobic exercise with muscle strengthening

Why is a workout where you include muscle work important? Very easy! This is a directly proportional relationship! The higher the percentage of muscle mass, the more energy our body requires to maintain muscle, advantage? higher caloric expenditure and consequently higher body fat burning; and this is where we would enter the caloric deficit or surplus, playing with the calories ingested daily to achieve that fat burning that some of us have left over… But only a little! Remember that it is important to have a certain percentage of body fat for health reasons.

I was one of those who thought that the more “cardio” I did daily, the more body fat I was going to burn. But no! Better to correct and realize later than never; And since I myself fell into this error, I want to convey to you that the only thing that is achieved with the abuse of cardiovascular exercise is physical exhaustion, stress due to the production of cortisol, and very low performance when training. I believe that this is not an advantage and surely none of you will want to reach such a situation.

What I want to convey to you in this post is only one thing: stay alone with this idea! “The bigger we are muscularly, our body will use more energy to move because it weighs more, so to fat… it’s goodbye! Don’t be afraid to strengthen your muscle!”
